VA Telecom Drives Network Innovation with Open and Software-Driven Infrastructure 

VA Telecom partnered with IP Infusion and Pine Networks to upgrade its telecommunications infrastructure using IP Infusion’s OcNOS software on UfiSpace hardware, replacing existing MikroTik routers. The setup supports Segment Routing MPLS, EVPN, BGP, VPNs, and telemetry to enhance routing and network management. Pine Networks provided system integration and deployment support.

Xfinity Brings High-Speed Internet to 7,500+ Homes and Businesses in Teays Valley

Comcast announced the expansion of its Xfinity Internet service to more than 7,500 homes and businesses in Teays Valley, West Virginia, including Hurricane with over 5,000 addresses and Scott Depot with more than 2,500 addresses. Construction has begun, and service is already available in parts of Scott Depot. The full expansion is scheduled for completion by 2028. The project will deliver Internet, mobile, entertainment, and smart home services through the Xfinity network. Comcast Business will provide connectivity, SD-WAN, cloud, and unified communications solutions for local enterprises, along with 5G mobile services.

Semtech Boosts 5G Connectivity for First Responders

Semtech launched the AirLink XR80 and XR90 Gen2 multi-network routers to support public safety communications. The routers provide 5G network slicing, enabling dedicated bandwidth for first responders and ensuring prioritized connectivity for mission-critical applications during high-demand scenarios. The devices include dual 5G cellular radios and Wi-Fi 6, offering download speeds up to 4.5 Gbps and upload speeds up to 900 Mbps. Semtech’s cognitive wireless technology allows automatic network switching and hot failover to maintain connectivity in dynamic conditions. Integration with the AirLink Management Service (ALMS) enables remote monitoring, management, and automated updates of devices.

GeoLinks and Intracom Telecom Achieve Multi-Gigabit Fixed Wireless Breakthrough GeoLinks, a fixed wireless internet provider, and Intracom Telecom, a telecom equipment manufacturer, demonstrated secure multi-gigabit fixed wireless connectivity on licensed spectrum at WISPAPALOOZA 2025 in Las Vegas. The demonstration used the WiBAS G5 Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) Smart Base Station operating in the 29/31 GHz licensed LMDS spectrum. The system delivered over 22 Gbps from a single base station and up to 2.4 Gbps per customer premise equipment (CPE). The setup ensured carrier-grade reliability and secure data transmission using FCC-protected frequencies.
