Breaking Barriers in Smart Metering: TESCO Metering Unveils Universal SIM for Next-Gen AMI Networks

TESCO Metering has introduced a Universal SIM Card designed for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) networks, aiming to simplify utility communications and improve grid reliability. The carrier-agnostic SIM automatically connects devices to the strongest available cellular network, removing the need for utilities to manage multiple SIM inventories or depend on a single telecom provider. This development strengthens the TESCO AMI Adaptiv Ecosystem, which supports hybrid connectivity models including cellular, private LTE, and fiber-based networks. Alongside improved deployment efficiency, the solution enhances scalability, resilience, and operational visibility for utilities modernizing their grid systems. TESCO positions the innovation as a key step toward AMI 2.0, enabling more flexible, interoperable, and future-ready smart metering infrastructure across diverse utility environments.

300 percent Speed Surge in Space Internet: FatPipe’s SATBoost Superchargers Starlink, Viasat & Amazon LEO Connectivity

FatPipe has introduced SATBoost, a new software solution designed to significantly enhance performance across major satellite internet systems, including Starlink, Viasat, and Amazon LEO. The platform boosts data throughput by up to 300 percent on low Earth orbit links by using proprietary acceleration technology combined with multipath routing. It enables enterprises to merge multiple satellite connections with 5G and terrestrial networks for improved speed, resilience, and uptime. SATBoost also optimizes traffic routing by prioritizing lower-cost networks and automatically switching during outages, ensuring continuous connectivity in remote or unstable environments. The solution is already deployed in sectors such as retail, healthcare, and government, where uninterrupted communication is critical. FatPipe says the tool is designed to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and support growing demand for high-performance hybrid connectivity.

Telecom Titan in the Making: T-Mobile–Deutsche Telekom Eye $300 Billion Global Merger

Deutsche Telekom is reportedly exploring a full-scale merger with its U.S. subsidiary T-Mobile in a move that could create a global telecom powerhouse valued at around $300 billion. The proposed structure would involve a new holding company and a dual listing in the U.S. and Europe, streamlining ownership since Deutsche Telekom already holds a majority stake in T-Mobile. The deal aims to boost financial flexibility, reduce borrowing costs, and strengthen competition against rivals like AT&T and Verizon. However, it faces major hurdles, including resistance from minority shareholders, scrutiny from the German government, and complex regulatory approvals across two continents. If successful, it would mark one of the largest corporate mergers in telecom history.
