French Antitrust Watchdog Reviews Telecom Network-Sharing Proposal

France’s antitrust watchdog is preparing to examine a proposed network-sharing arrangement involving Orange, Iliad, Bouygues Telecom, and SFR, according to sources. The review will assess whether the agreement could reduce competition or negatively impact consumers in the country’s telecommunications market. Regulators are expected to evaluate the potential effects on network investments, infrastructure sharing, service quality, and market dynamics before deciding whether the arrangement complies with competition rules. The proposed deal comes as European telecom operators seek greater cooperation to reduce infrastructure costs and improve network efficiency while continuing investments in advanced broadband and 5G deployment.

Safaricom Issues Fresh Warning to Protect M-Pesa Users from Fraud

Safaricom has issued a fresh warning urging M-Pesa users to keep their PINs confidential as fraudsters continue targeting mobile money customers through scams and social engineering tactics. The operator reminded users that employees will never request PINs, passwords, or one-time verification codes over phone calls, text messages, or social media. Customers are encouraged to verify suspicious communications, avoid sharing personal account information, and report fraudulent activity immediately through official customer support channels. The advisory forms part of Safaricom’s broader efforts to strengthen digital security, protect customer accounts, and raise awareness about evolving cyber threats affecting mobile financial services.
