Samsung Electronics and SoftBank have signed an MoU to jointly develop next-generation telecom technologies, focusing on 6G, AI-powered RAN and Large Telecom Models. The partnership brings together Samsung’s expertise in base stations and field-proven RAN deployments with SoftBank’s experience in large-scale networks and generative-AI models. Both companies will explore new frequency bands such as 7 GHz and apply AI at the physical layer to boost performance, efficiency and automation. They also plan to create an AI-RAN Orchestrator to manage AI and RAN workloads on shared infrastructure.
Rural Malawi Gets a Digital Lifeline: New Mobile Towers Bring Connectivity to Thousands
USF Malawi has completed a major rural network tower rollout across Nkhotakota, Balaka, Dedza and Ntcheu, targeting communities with little or no mobile coverage. Implemented by MACRA with support from the Ministry of Information & Digitalization, the PPP Commission and World Bank funding under the Digital Malawi Acceleration Project, the initiative focuses on closing the digital gap through strategic tower deployment. The project strengthens communication access, improves service reliability and enables more people in rural areas to connect to essential digital services, education, e-commerce and mobile finance.
