Telecom Providers Boost Network Efficiency with Open Networking Upgrade

Celerity Internet and Wispwest upgraded their networks by deploying OcNOS and IP Maestro on UfiSpace hardware, improving network performance and scalability in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. The upgrade uses OcNOS, an open network operating system, which separates software from hardware, allowing flexible network design and lower costs. IP Maestro provides a centralized interface to monitor and configure network elements, simplifying operations and increasing network visibility. UfiSpace hardware enables high-density and high-capacity networking, supporting efficient hardware utilization.

Panama Opens Door to 5G and Mobile Market Competition

Panama is accelerating its spectrum plan to support 5G services and is introducing a third mobile operator to expand competition in the mobile market. The government aims to improve connectivity and increase consumer choice. By adding a new operator, the mobile market is expected to experience more competition, which could influence pricing, service quality, and innovation in telecom offerings.

Ericsson Leads 5G Innovation, Tops Gartner Magic Quadrant 2025

Ericsson has been recognized as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for CSP 5G RAN Infrastructure Solutions for the fifth consecutive year. The company ranked highest on the “Ability to Execute” axis, showing strong performance in delivering 5G solutions for communications service providers (CSPs). Ericsson’s 5G RAN portfolio includes the Ericsson Radio System and custom silicon-based Massive MIMO radios. Its RAN Connect offering provides radios, antennas, and open fronthaul solutions, helping CSPs build programmable networks. Ericsson’s RAN software features intent-based automation and AI-powered tools, including the 5G Advanced suite with Automated Energy Saver and AI-native Link Adaptation, enhancing network efficiency and performance.

Private 5G Revolutionizes Mining at Finland’s Callio Site

Nokia and Boldyn Networks deployed a private 5G network at the Callio FutureMINE site in Pyhäjärvi, Finland, creating a testbed for mining operations. The network enables real-time data transmission and ultra-low latency, allowing visibility and control of personnel and assets. It supports remote vehicle operation, digital twin mapping, and tele-remote tasks. Connectivity spans multiple underground levels, improving safety, efficiency, and operational management in mining. Private 5G networks deliver high-performance, deterministic connectivity that allows integration of automation, real-time monitoring, and predictive maintenance. They enable testing and validation of equipment under real operational conditions, contributing to safer and more controlled industrial operations.
