Telecom API Market to Double by 2028 Driven by 5G, Open APIs, and Security Focus

The telecom API market is projected to grow from USD 321 billion in 2023 to USD 664.9 billion by 2028, with a CAGR of 15.7 percent. Key players include Twilio, AT&T, Telefonica, Verizon, and Ericsson. Growth is driven by enterprise and partner developers. Asia Pacific, especially China, India, and Japan, is expected to expand due to investment in R&D. Telecom companies are adopting open APIs through initiatives like GSMA Open Gateway and CAMARA, enabling services like number verification and SIM swap detection. Operators are using APIs for 5G monetization through network slicing and quality-on-demand. WebRTC and IoT APIs are being integrated by providers such as AT&T and Orange. The market is shifting toward hybrid cloud infrastructure, with increased attention on API security and fraud prevention using zero-trust frameworks and runtime protection mechanisms.

Azercell Drives Telecom Innovation with Digital Services, IoT, and AI Investments

Azercell joined the TeleManagement Forum, gaining access to tools for service development and partner growth. In 2023, it launched the eSIM “Asan Imza” service, removing the need for physical SIM cards, and upgraded its Virtual Assistant to respond in Azerbaijani. Azercell introduced the “Irrigation Control System,” an IoT solution for water management in agriculture, and partnered with Cloudera to renew its data architecture, speeding business processes five times. It deployed renewable energy-powered base stations and implemented software to optimize energy use. Azerbaijan plans to open a $4.1 million AI laboratory to boost AI research and infrastructure and signed a memorandum with FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies to bring smart technologies and improve digital infrastructure.

Nova Scotia Boosts Rural Connectivity with New Cell Towers and 5G Upgrades
