Telecom Lead India: BSNL has signed 15 enterprise clients for its cloud services being offered in association with Dimension Data India.
BSNL’s 15 enterprise clients are from verticals such as financial services, IT / ITES, education and government sectors.
These clients include Indian Railways IT arm CRIS, EXL Services, Federal Bank, Genpact India, Hindustan Times, India Today, KPIT Cummins, State Bank of India, Sapient Corporation and Agra’s BR Ambedkar University.
“We have invested around Rs 200 crore for setting six data centers with BSNL and cloud services. The reach of BSNL is huge and we are leveraging on the asset that BSNL has,” said Dimension Data CEO Kiran Bhagwanani.
The state-run BSNL utilizes Dimension Data’s managed cloud platform (MCP) for launching cloud services. BSNL has not made any investment in setting up data centers but has partnered with Japanese firm NTT owned Dimension Data for offering cloud computing based services.
RK Upadhyay, chairman & managing director, BSNL, said: “The fact that we have already signed on 15 leading organizations is a clear indicator of the value we are delivering.”
He said that around 15 per cent capacity of these centers is occupied within a year and by the end of this fiscal, around 50 per cent of the capacity will be put to use. MCPs offer multiple layers of security, administrative controls, SLAs, 24/7 phone support and integrated management capabilities.
Kapil Sibal, minister of Communications and IT, said: “With the central, as well as State governments investing in strengthening their E-Governance initiatives to benefit citizens, this public-private partnership to offer cloud services is another step towards realizing the larger goal of bridging the gap between citizens and the government.”
