MWC Shanghai 2025: Huawei and Hutchison ink deal to build AI-powered network

Huawei has reinforced its leadership in telecom infrastructure innovation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) (HTHK) at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2025. The collaboration underscores Huawei’s strength in building next-generation cloud-native and AI-powered network architectures, accelerating digital transformation across the telecom industry.

At the heart of the agreement is the deployment of Huawei’s hybrid cloud platform, enabling HTHK to transition toward an AI-native network model. This cloud-native architecture will bring intelligent operations and real-time big data analytics into core and wireless networks, delivering major advances in service efficiency, predictive capabilities, and customer experience.

Huawei’s AI integration will allow the network to anticipate user traffic surges — especially during high-density scenarios such as concerts or major events — ensuring seamless connectivity and superior performance. With built-in intelligence, the infrastructure will be able to detect over 30 types of anomalies and proactively simulate network stress scenarios, offering predictive insights to safeguard against outages and latency issues.

Huawei’s ICT expertise, spanning over three decades, forms the backbone of this innovation. The company is pioneering intelligent connectivity, cloud-network synergy, and green energy solutions, aligning with HTHK’s vision to become a telco of the AI era. Beyond operational enhancements, Huawei’s platform will enable reliable support for mission-critical use cases such as emergency services, public safety, and secure medical data transmission.

By embedding AI deeply into the network layer, Huawei is not only transforming operations but also redefining how telecom networks adapt to dynamic urban needs. This collaboration signals a pivotal shift in Hong Kong’s telecom landscape, positioning the city as a hub for advanced, resilient, and intelligent mobile infrastructure.
