Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has signed a strategic deal with Transsion Holdings during the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai, focusing on making smart devices and digital connectivity more accessible across Indonesia, particularly in underserved rural regions.

The partnership will see Indosat leveraging Transsion’s expansive retail footprint — over 10,000 outlets nationwide — to distribute its IM3 and Tri services. These outlets will function as access points for SIM cards and digital services, significantly expanding Indosat’s reach. Additionally, Transsion smartphones will come pre-installed with Indosat’s myIM3 and bima+ apps, offering users seamless access to data management and digital content from the outset.
To lower the barrier to smartphone adoption, Indosat and Transsion will also offer 0 percent installment plans, making smart devices more affordable. The bundle will include eSIM support, simplifying service activation and enhancing user convenience.
The device-focused collaboration is part of a broader digital inclusion strategy aimed at closing the connectivity gap between urban and rural areas in Indonesia. With rural internet penetration at just 30.5 percent — compared to a national average of 79.5 percent — this initiative targets millions of Indonesians currently excluded from the digital ecosystem.
The companies also hinted at future joint initiatives, including co-branded devices, deeper app integration, and locally tailored digital services, reinforcing their long-term commitment to advancing Indonesia’s digital transformation.
