Ericsson wins network deal from Tele2 Russia

Ericsson has won a technology deal from Tele2 Russia to upgrade its network with the 5G-ready Ericsson Radio System, including software.
Tele2 Ericsson deal at MWC 2019Tele2 Russia engineers will be deploying more than 50,000 base stations across the country as part of the five-year network modernization deal.

Tele2 has operations in 65 Russian regions including Moscow and Moscow Region. Tele2’s subscriber base totals 40.6 million. The deal will enable higher speed and capacity rates and prepare the Tele2 network for 5G.

Sergey Emdin, CEO of Tele2, and Sebastian Tolstoy, head of Ericsson Russia, signed the deal at the Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC 2019) in Barcelona.

Ericsson will implement technological solutions on Tele2’s infrastructure across 27 regions in Russia – including Moscow and Saint Petersburg – to meet constantly growing data traffic demands, Sergey Emdin, CEO of Tele2 Russia, said.
