Polaris Wireless, a global provider of high accuracy,
software-based wireless location solutions to wireless operators, law
enforcement / government agencies and location-based application companies, is
planning to double its manpower in India from the present 55 people.
The company has development centers in Bangalore and
Nagpur. The US-based company is aiming to achieve $100 million revenue next
year. Polaris Wireless has more than 120 people globally.
We are planning to increase our investment in India. We
will double our Indian manpower next year. We hope to work with all leading
operators in India to assist them in their wireless location projects,” said
Manilo Allegra, president and CEO of Polaris Wireless.
Since 2003, Polaris Wireless has deployed its patented,
software-based, high-accuracy location solutions to over 20 wireless operators
to meet FCC E911 Phase II requirements in the U.S. The company has also
deployed high-accuracy location surveillance applications for customers in Asia
and EMEA.
The new Equipment Security Agreement mandated by the
Department of Telecommunications requires Indian operators to maintain location
information up to accuracy of 50 meters for customers specified by Security
Agencies from June 2012, and on all customers, irrespective of whether they are
the subject of legal intercept or not from June 2014.
Allegra said Indian operators need to spend half a
billion dollar to meet DoT guidelines. Operators can also leverage LBS
solutions to create more revenue generating opportunities.
Recently, the Cellular Operators Association of India
said that a new simplified Equipment Security Agreement, which mandates the
implementation of Location Based Infrastructure, could cost the Indian telecom
operators approximately $5 billion.
We are the only vendor who can work with both 2G and 3G
operators. We look forward to work with all operators in India shortly,”
Allegra added.
Polaris Wireless has offices in Dubai, U.A.E., Bangalore,
India, Tokyo, Japan, and Santiago, Chile.
Recently, Polaris Wireless announced
a significant customer contract, for a multi-million dollar deployment of the
Polaris Wireless Altus and OmniLocate location surveillance product suite. The
deal represents a major increase in Polaris Wireless’ business in the MEA
region, directed out of the company’s regional headquarters in Dubai.
This is the latest deployment of the company’s
high-accuracy wireless location surveillance solution in an area increasingly
vital to the global efforts against crime and terrorism. Polaris Wireless
high-accuracy location solutions are also deployed in North America and the
Asia-Pacific region.
