McAfee announced that John Thode has joined
the company as executive vice president and general manager.
Thode is now responsible for developing and
executing the strategy and bookings model for McAfee’s consumer, mobile and
small business unit.
“John has more than 30 years of experience
in the wireless infrastructure and consumer handset business. He has the proven
ability to develop and grow emerging businesses and has a history of leading
and inspiring great teams. We are excited to welcome him to
McAfee,” said Todd Gebhart, co-president, McAfee.
Thode joins McAfee from Dell where he was
general manager of the Consumer Products Group. He was responsible for driving
strategy and development of all of Dell’s non-traditional PC products including
netbooks, smart phones, tablets, accessories, content and services. He had led
marketing, engineering and sales support associates globally.
Prior to Dell, Thode was president and
chief executive officer of ISCO, a telecom infrastructure company. He also spent
25 years with Motorola as vice president and general manager of the Universal
Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Handset Products.
Thode will report directly to Gebhart and
is based in Illinois.
