Former Bharti Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor joins board of BCCL as independent director

Former Bharti Airtel CEO (India & South Asia) Sanjay Kapoor has joined the board of Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL), the publisher Times of India, Economic Times, etc — as an independent director.

Sanjay, who left Bharti Airtel earlier this year, brings expertise and understanding to the rapidly growing and changing media landscape. ( Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor steps down )

“Our board looks forward to his contribution in shaping the growth agenda atBCCL,” said Ravi Dhariwal, CEO (publishing), BCCL.

Sanjay worked with Bharti Airtel for around 15 years. Prior to joining Bharti Airtel, he had worked as director, operations support at Xerox India.

Sanjay Kapoor, former CEO, AirtelHe has played an active role in various industry forums such as CII, COAI and Nasscom. Kapoor said he was excited to join the board of India’s largest media group and feels honoured to be given this opportunity, ET reported.

“I believe that global transformation in media and telecommunications is making these industries increasingly complementary and I hope to put my learning and experiences to use in guiding Bennett Coleman, as an independent director, towards its future goals,” he said.
