Telecom Lead America: tw telecom, a provider of
managed services, including Business Ethernet, converged and IP VPN solutions
to enterprises across the U.S. and to their global locations, has posted total
revenues of $364.5 million for the second quarter 2012, up 7.7 percent, as
compared to $338.3 million for the same quarter of 2011.
Net income stood at $19.3 million, up 35 percent, as
compared to $14.3 million for the year earlier quarter.
The company’s data and internet services business fetched
$182.4 million, up 15.4 percent, against $158.1 million for the year earlier
period.
Voice services clocked $91 million with 8.8 percent
growth against $83 million for the year earlier quarter. Network services
revenue totaled at $83 million, down 6.6 percent, as compared to $88.8 million
for the second quarter of 2011.
Revenue from Intercarrier compensation stood at $ 8
million, up 4.2 percent, versus $7.6 million for the year earlier period.
Modified EBITDA (“M-EBITDA”) stood at $134.0
million with 8.8 percent yearly growth.
Larissa Herda, chairman, CEO and president of the
company said that performance this quarter reflects both consistency and
innovation.
Capital expenditures of $80.8 million for the quarter
were up slightly compared to the prior quarter of $79.1 million and decreased
from $90.9 million for the same period last year, with the majority of the
investments in each period related to success-based initiatives.
Mark Peters, executive VP and chief financial
officer said sales gained momentum during the first quarter, which continued
into the second quarter as we steadily progressed to achieve strongest sales
quarter on record.
The Company expects capital investments to grow in the
last half of the year over the first six months.
tw telecom anticipates investments for the full year may
be at the lower end of a range of $345 to $355 million, given its capital
efficiencies and timing of projects.
The Company also expects the majority of these
investments to be tied to new success-based opportunities.
tw telecom bags multi-year contract from GSA
During the quarter, tw telecom got a multi-year contract
from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) for advanced voice, data
and Internet services in Hawaii.
