Telefonica Central America picks Comptel to consolidate mediation systems

Telecom Lead America: Mobile service provider Telefonica
Central America has selected Comptel’s single, scalable platform to consolidate
its mediation systems supporting customers in Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua and
El Salvador.

Telefonica Central America will benefit from Comptel
Convergent Mediation as it provide with the high performance and flexibility to
efficiently collect and transform more than half a billion network transactions
daily into billable records.

We believe that Comptel Convergent Mediation will set
Telefónica Central America out on the right path to accomplish its goals of
reducing operational costs and launching new products and services with speed
and ease ultimately helping to improve the customer experience,” said Diego Becker,
senior vice president, Latin America and Caribbean, Comptel.

Moreover, it will better the telecom operator’s
time-to-market and its ability to meet customer demand for new products and
services, facilitate greater organizational collaboration and more efficient
business processes, and lower total cost of ownership.

Comptel said its Convergent Mediation offers an
intelligent approach to mediation and charging by hiding network complexity and
linking services and subscriber and payment types. Its vendor-independent
components will seamlessly integrate with the CSP’s legacy systems, as well as
extend to next-generation environments and services.

Tackling an OSS consolidation project across four
countries seemed daunting at first. Comptel’s single convergent mediation
platform proved to offer the scalability and flexibility we needed to manage
the more than half a billion transactions crossing our networks daily. We are
confident that it will have a positive impact on our operational efficiency,
customer satisfaction and business growth,” said Lester Pimentel, CIO,
Telefonica Central America.
