Syniverse provides NTT DOCOMO with Wi-Fi data and financial clearing solutions

Telecom Lead Asia: Syniverse has expanded its association
with NTT DOCOMO, to provide the operator with complete Wi-Fi data and financial
clearing solutions.

The extended relationship with the Japanese mobile
operator marks important milestone in the growth of Syniverse’s Wi-Fi services.

Under the deal, Syniverse will enable the operator to
follow industry standards and processes for Wi-Fi roaming.

The process will relieve NTT DOCOMO from internal
operations and conversions that would otherwise be required and simplifying
both wholesale and retail billing.

Alfred de Cárdenas, chief operating officer of
Syniverse, said that Wi-Fi has rapidly moved to a must-have service offering
for today’s mobile service providers and the company looks forward to providing
NTT DOCOMO the solutions it needs to deliver on the promise of mobility.

Syniverse is providing the operator with Wi-Fi Clearing
Solution, which is based on the joint interfaces and standards of the Wireless
Roaming Intermediary Exchange (WRIX).

The Wi-Fi Clearing Solution provides the data and financial
clearing essential for end-to-end interoperator settlement between all types of
wireless local area network (WLAN) providers as well as comprehensive reporting
and extensive data storage.

The agreement with NTT DOCOMO is Syniverse’s first Wi-Fi
services agreement in Asia
Pacific.

In the Asia Pacific region, the company has more than 180
customers, including a number of leading mobile service providers.

Windy Zou Kohl, senior vice president and managing
director, Asia Pacific at Syniverse, said that the Asia Pacific mobile market
is one of the most advanced in the world, and the company is committed to
propelling innovation for our customers and their end users.

Last year, the company inked major contracts
in Japan, South Korea, China and India. During the
first half of 2012, the company maintained a 100 percent customer retention
rate in the region in addition to winning new business.

Syniverse sets up LTE Hub

Recently, Syniverse set up LTE Hub that offers operators
access to full LTE and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) interoperability and
interworking for 4G voice and data roaming.
