Strategy Analytics introduces new programs for short-term retail pricing analysis

Telecom Lead America: Strategy Analytics, a provider
of market intelligence has introduced two new programs called
PriceTRAX and SpecTRAX.

These programs provide distinct data sets which make it
possible for cellphone manufacturers, vendors and operators based in 35
countries in North America, Europe and Asia, to view weekly retailing pricing
for cellular devices.

The Strategy Analytics PriceTRAX program offers
country specific pricing at a glance, while SpecTRAX program provides more
than 250 categories for comparison of handset features and specifications.

According to the company, recently, using this Strategy
Analytics information, a cellphone manufacturer was able to correlate device
specifications to monthly tariff data sets, in order to determine true mobile
phone values.

This data provides realistic comparisons for phone
manufacturers trying to determine appropriate price points for each new
product. While consumers certainly know that there is a clear relationship
between the specification of a handset and the tariff on which it appears, the
system seemed unscientific. This research reveals strong linear UK trends
between handset specifications and tariffs,” said Stephen Entwistle, vice
president, Strategy Analytics.

Stuart Robinson, director of the SpecTRAX and PriceTRAX
database services, stated that screen size, display size, internal memory,
processor speed and camera resolution are the key parts which correlate to
likely tariff introduction points.

He added that the resulting calculations provide a more
accurate tool for positioning new smartphone models and predicting mean tariff
worth.

Strategy Analytics also provides medium- to long-term
forecasts for wholesale pricing or subsidy strategies, as either multi-client
reports workshops or client -specific projects.

Headquartered in Boston, MA, with offices in the UK,
France, Germany, Japan, S. Korea and China, Strategy Analytics works with
clients through annual multi-client services, management team workshops and
custom consulting engagements.
