Spirent Communications announced the addition of Spirent Avalanche’s application performance and security testing capabilities to Spirent TestCenter HyperMetrics mX 40/100G module.
With the ability to assess stateful layer 4-7 traffic and layer 2-3 traffic on a single module, Spirent is helping reduce the amount of test equipment required in a lab, while expanding the number of
devices that can be tested simultaneously through the industry’s highest-density interfaces.
“The introduction of these additional capabilities to the Spirent TestCenter HyperMetrics mX module further demonstrates our continued leadership in providing the industry’s most advanced
high-speed testing equipment,” said Ankur Chadda, product marketing manager at Spirent.
The migration to high-speed data centers and networks designed to deliver Quality of Experience (QoE) aware applications means it is critical for system vendors and operators to validate that services are fully secure and meet customer expectations.
This enhanced module is the first solution to address line rate 40Gbps layer 4-7 application performance on high-speed 40/100G Ethernet systems. The new capability allows test engineers to do more with their testing resources and enables the testing of highly realistic user and business workloads over 40G and 100G Ethernet interfaces.
“Network equipment manufacturers, service providers and data center operators face many challenges in today’s highly competitive, quickly-changing business environment,” said Michael Howard, principal analyst, Carrier Networks, at Infonetics Research. “It is critical for test engineers to have efficient tools that quicken the development process in order to get 40GE and 100GE to a waiting market, and this includes the critical elements of QoE and QoS, parameters that are growing in importance for service differentiation.”
With up to four 40G ports or two 100G ports per module, the HyperMetrics mX 40/100G module delivers the highest density high-speed Ethernet test solution per rack unit, while ensuring the delivery of a complete mobile multi-play experience. It achieves this by combining high-performance stateful traffic, high-scale routing, access and mobile control plane characteristics on a single module.
