Polycom offers RealPresence platform to Vietnam Post & Telecommunications for video-as-a-service in Vietnam

Telecom Lead Asia: Vietnam Post & Telecommunication
(VNPT), the largest telecommunications carrier in Vietnam, announced the launch
of MegaConference, a new cloud-delivered video conferencing service for
businesses, in collaboration with Polycom.

The MegaConference service is powered by the Polycom
RealPresence Platform, which is an interoperable software infrastructure for
universal video collaboration.

“MegaConference is the right video solution to deliver
not only cost savings for our customers, but also provide a higher level of
flexibility and productivity that supports business growth. The Polycom
RealPresence Platform is helping VNPT get to market faster, while enabling us
to easily manage the delivery and provisioning of the MegaConference
service,” said Pham Duc Long, Vice Director of VNPT HCMC.

MegaConference is a subscription-based video conferencing
service, also known as Video-as-a-Service (VaaS).

The service is designed to deliver a face-to-face
communication solution in a pay-as-you-use model to businesses, allowing for
more efficient collaboration anywhere and anytime. I will provide Vietnam
organizations with a secure, high-quality, reliable, flexible and
cost-effective collaboration solution to support and drive productivity and
efficiencies in day-to-day business operations.

VNPT selected the Polycom RealPresence Platform as the
software infrastructure of choice due to the unique open-standards approach of
the platform.

“Polycom is proud to be selected by VNPT to supply
our RealPresence Platform for their ground-breaking Video-as-a-Service offering
to Vietnam organizations,” said Chris Taylor, regional director for ASEAN,
Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, Polycom.

The MegaConference service was originally piloted by 20
businesses in December 2011 and subsequently deployed and supported by VNCTC,
Polycom’s system integrator partner in Vietnam.

Recently,
Polycom and HTC Corporation announced an agreement to collaborate and
enable Polycom RealPresence Mobile on select HTC smartphones and
tablets in mid-2012.
