Nextel Peru selects Comverse for digital services

Telecom operator Nextel Peru has selected Comverse for digital services and broadband solutions for consumers and enterprises.

In addition, Comverse will handle managed services for Nextel Peru, the third-largest mobile telephony company in Chile, with a market share of 5.8 percent in the first half of 2013.

Comverse MultiVAS, which replaced a legacy competitor solution at Nextel Peru, unifies voicemail, call completion, text (SMS) & multimedia (MMS) messaging and USSD services.

The telecom operator will benefit as the Comverse solution will significantly reduce costs, simplifying service operation, and position Nextel to evolve and enhance voice and messaging to a digital experience.

The evolution path to RCS and other digital lifestyle services will be supported by the Comverse Policy Engine that will strengthen Nextel Peru’s competitive position by enabling it to offer deploy innovative data plans for the Digital Lifestyle services.

Nextel CTO Gonzalo Veas said: “This upgrade enables us to deliver an integrated, personalized cross-service customer experience that meets the evolving needs and preferences of our rapidly expanding subscriber base and positions us to move towards realization of our visionary roadmap for the future.”
