NetApp has announced a portfolio of products and solutions built on the NetApp E-Series Platform to enable customers and partners to effectively tackle new and growing storage requirements. The E-Series Platform leverages technology gained from NetApp’s completed purchase of the Engenio external storage systems business from LSI Corporation and enables NetApp to enter emerging markets.
The NetApp E5400 storage system, which is available for OEMs, is a sixth-generation storage system that delivers high-class performance optimal for big-bandwidth applications, extreme storage density, and exceptional uptime. This unique combination makes the E5400 an ideal solution for high-performance environments with massive amounts of critical data and computing demands that require enterprise-class scalability and reliability.
With the E-Series Platform now part of the NetApp portfolio, we will continue to build upon the existing product road map and engineering innovations to deliver to our OEMs a high-speed, cost-effective, scalable, and reliable storage platform to help them address their customers’ growing high-performance workload requirements”, said Joel Reich, VP & GM, Array Products Business Unit, NetApp.
NetApp also unveiled a Full-Motion Video Storage Solution built on the E-Series Platform, enabling government agencies to more effectively take advantage of full-motion video. The solution leverages the new NetApp E5400, part of the E-Series Platform, and is combined with the StorNext data management solution from Quantum, making it ideal for big-bandwidth requirements for full-motion video capture and analysis.
NetApp has also launched a new solution built on the E-Series Platform that enables speed of deployment and simplifies manageability of Hadoop infrastructure, allowing customers to deploy a solution in hours versus weeks and to dynamically expand to petabyte scale. Hadoop was designed to enable real-time or near-real-time data analysis and is an innovative platform to help businesses focus on managing and deriving business benefits from larger and more complex datasets.
Availability and pricing for the E5400 are available through NetApp’s OEM partners. The Full-Motion Video Solution is available from federally focused system integrators and value- added resellers who are part of the NetApp Partner Program. Pricing is available through these partners.
The Hadoop solution is expected to be available in the second quarter of NetApp’s fiscal year 2012.
