NEC–NetCracker powers KDDI of Japan to improve service quality

Telecom Lead Asia: KDDI of Japan has selected NEC–NetCracker to deploy its asset and resource optimization solution.

NEC–NetCracker will assist KDDI to increase design/build operational efficiency and increase service quality to maximize end-user customer satisfaction.

Leveraging NetCracker’s TOMS (Telecom Operations and Management Solutions) Suite, KDDI will automate business processes for design and build and will consolidate its resource inventory data.

The Japanese telecom player will set up an integrated database for physical layer resources for fixed line communications to optimize workforce activities for design, build, and operation and improve the quality of resource data information.

Integration of resource information in the logical layer will give KDDI greater insight into, and control over, network resource usage for the logical and physical layers.

In addition, correlating resource inventory and information with data in KDDI’s asset accounting system will enable KDDI to improve its business for asset accounting information management.

KDDI will use NetCracker capabilities for resource inventory, design & planning, and discovery & reconciliation. The solution will ensure tight alignment between the physical and logical layers of the network, while optimizing network deployment and operations.

Meanwhile, KDDI has expanded its video-on-demand service Video Pass to iOS devices and Smart TVs, bringing it within reach of its entire mobile customer base across four platforms (TV, PC, tablet and mobile).

The Video Pass service was already available across a range of devices including Android phones and tablets as well as PCs and Macs thanks to the implementation of an end-to end online video platform from UK firm Saffron Digital in May 2012.
