At the MWC 2014 (Mobile World Congress), Huawei today unveiled Atom Router.
The finger-sized router allows visualized IP network O&M (Operation and Maintenance), real-time measurement of per-user and per-service performance, and delivery of more value-added services.
Huawei said the router can be deployed on any network nodes without the need for network reconstruction.
The company said Huawei Atom Router addresses needs of IP bearer networks due to fixed mobile convergence (FMC) and the rapid development of data centers (DCs).
The router runs the advanced software platform, employs photoelectric and NP chip technologies, and adopts industry-leading processing techniques. The Atom Router works immediately after being plugged into a service port of a device on an existing network, such as a base station, router, or switch, without the need for extra power supply or site resources.
The Atom Router delivers smarter pipes that facilitate network O&M and service innovation. The router simplifies O&M of IP networks, whose service performance used to be invisible to operators. By providing visible service performance, real-time service level agreement (SLA) measuring and accurate SLA reporting, and quick fault location capabilities, the router enables convenient, service-aware network O&M.
SDN-enabled Atom Routers allows telecom operators to develop and provision service applications as required, powering on-demand network evolution.
