Telecom Lead India: Matrix Cellular slashed calling rates
for international travelers to the U.K. and U.S.
Matrix has tied up with T-mobile in the U.K. and AT&T
in the U.S. for offering the special package.
As per the plan, people who are travelling to the U.K.
and U.S., can make calls to India free of cost.
Incoming calls will also be free for people
traveling to the U.K.
Customers who are using their emails or other social
media sites on their Smartphones can activate data services on their handheld
at 1/10th the cost of international data roaming charges.
Matrix Cellular CEO Arun Batra said the free call to
India is yet another industry’s first and unique offering from Matrix.
Through these special pricings, Matrix Cellular intends
to tap the massive potential in the international travel segment and to double
our subscriber base.
The promotion is part of a trial run.
The international roaming service provider will provide
more such offers after studying the market reaction. Matrix may offer similar
plans to customers travelling to other countries as well.
When travelling to the U.K. and U.S., making calls to
India accounts for nearly 60 percent of international roaming bills. When using
your Indian number on international roaming, a customer has to pay around Rs
140 per minute to make calls from the U.K. and around Rs 250 per minute when
calling from the U.S.
Using a Matrix SIM card will enable one to save
enormously on their International Roaming expenses by making free calls to
India.
