Lenovo selects Keysight for testing Moto 5G smartphones

Motorola Mobility, a subsidiary of Lenovo, has selected Keysight Technologies for testing 5G smartphones.

Lenovo CEO earlier announced that it will launch 5G smartphone under the Moto brand at the earliest.

The collaboration with Keysight, a leading testing solution company, accelerates the delivery of the first mmWave 5G New Radio (NR) devices using Keysight’s 5G network emulation solutions. Keysight will support Motorola for early 5G chipset prototyping, development, and device design validation.

“Engagements with key 5G chipset providers have enabled Keysight to deliver first-to-market 5G solutions as 5G device design work accelerates,” Scott Bryden, vice president of wireless device solutions at Keysight Technologies, said.

Last year, Keysight announced that its 5G network emulation solutions, including 5G Protocol R&D and RF Design Verification Toolsets, support the new 3GPP 5G NR Non-Standalone standard.

Keysight in 5G deal with ASUS

Keysight Technologies earlier announced that ASUS will leverage the company’s 5G network emulation solutions to accelerate 5G New Radio (NR) device development and verification.

ASUS selected Keysight’s 5G network emulation solutions to validate designs that support the latest 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) Release 15 specifications, including beamforming and beam management technologies across both sub-6GHz and mmWave frequencies.

Keysight said ASUS will use the Compact Antenna Test Range chamber, which has been approved by 3GPP, as an indirect far field test methodology. This chamber will be used to perform device characterization and validation under real-world conditions.

“ASUS can leverage the same test capabilities and test cases specified by tier one chipset vendors and mobile operators to easily validate device performance, speed development and achieve consistent results,” Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of the Wireless Test business at Keysight Technologies, said.
