Sidera Networks, a provider of fiber optic-based network
solutions, announced it has been selected by La Salle University in
Philadelphia, to provide high speed, scalable Internet solutions for
campus-wide network upgrade.
La Salle joins nearly 50 education and research
institutions in the Northeast U.S. that rely on Sidera’s scalable solutions to
support their bandwidth requirements.
This upgrade will support La Salle’s learning environment
and communications applications, including email and e-learning platforms and
the daily online needs of its students.
“Our newly upgraded network gives us a faster,
flexible and more reliable connection, and the migration from the previous
provider was painless. Network performance has been excellent since we began to
work with Sidera,” said Ed Nickerson, CIO, La Salle University.
Sidera will assist LaSalle to
increase bandwidth and improve network performance with lower cost. Sidera will
also provide the University with access to Sidera’s around-the-clock support.
“In higher education, fast and reliable Internet
connectivity is not just important, it is integral to the daily lives of
everyone on campus,” said Mike Sicoli, CEO, Sidera Networks.
“Our team was able to design and implement a
solution that delivers the required speed, capacity and resiliency needed for
today’s campus environment,” Sicoli added.
Sidera recently announced it will further expand
its network in Bristol County, Massachusetts to support OSHEAN’s mission to
provide colleges and universities with dedicated fiber connectivity to advance
the collaboration and performance of key classroom applications.
Earlier this year, OSHEAN, a nonprofit coalition of
universities, hospitals and government agencies dedicated to providing
technology solutions for its member institutions, selected Sidera
for its network project spanning from Rhode Island into Massachusetts.
