KIT digital launches connected device framework extensions for broadcast customers

By Telecom Lead Team: KIT digital, a cloud-based software
solutions and technology services provider for multiscreen video management and
delivery, has released a number of Social TV user experiences across the Xbox
LIVE service, including voice and motion controlled applications for UK-based
Channel 4 and Channel 5.

Moreover, the company will deliver new Foxtel (Australia)
and Prisa TV (Spain) applications to Xbox. A major broadcaster and a large
cable operator in the U.K. have also contracted KIT digital to guide the
development of their Xbox implementations.

KIT digital has also provided content protection services
for customers on the Xbox LIVE service, using Microsoft PlayReady technology
and the license delivery services of the KIT digital Cosmos software platform.

“Xbox LIVE is a significant advancement in
IP-delivered Social and Interactive TV. Microsoft’s innovative approach enabled
KIT digital’s talented designers and developers to extend our efforts for the
KIT Connected Device Framework and KIT Social TV to the Xbox platform. This
allows users to control their TV experience using gesture and voice, an idea
seen as impossible only years ago. We’re delighted to have collaborated with
Microsoft on the delivery of these socially enabled VOD and linear applications
for their platform, helping to transform the TV viewing experience,” said
Alex Blum, chief operating officer of KIT digital.

The applications were built using the KIT digital
Connected Device Framework (CDF), which simplifies the integration of new
devices to the KIT video platform. As the number of highly-capable video
devices continues to grow, the CDF provides a set of developer tools that allow
rich video experiences to be created for these devices, with video served by
the KIT Video Platform.
