Keysight adds latest vector signal analyzer and generator

Electronic measurement technology provider Keysight Technologies today introduced a multi-channel phase coherent M9391A PXIe vector signal analyzer (VSA) and M9381A PXIe vector signal generator (VSG).

It has also announced launch of N7608B Signal Studio for custom modulation software.

The new VSA and VSG address the need for ability to validate critical multi-antenna techniques such as diversity, carrier aggregation, 8×8 multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) spatial multiplexing and beamforming. These are useful in the development and verification of next generation cellular, wireless connectivity and 5G devices.

Keysight has introduced the LTE/LTE-Advanced Multi-Channel Reference Solution that combines multiple phase coherent PXI VSAs and VSGs, available in 2-, 4- or 8-channel configurations, with Keysight’s application software, multi-channel configuration and calibration tools.

“The 8-channel phase-coherent PXI VSA and VSG provide capabilities customers need to improve wireless system data rates and signal quality,” said Mario Narduzzi, marketing manager of Keysight’s Software and Modular Solutions Division.

The software simplifies creation of encoded, standard–compliant test signals and enables demodulation and cross-channel measurements to characterize complex MIMO designs.

Further, N7608B Signal Studio for custom modulation software helps speed up insight by making it easier to create custom waveforms for 5G applications. In the early stages of 5G research, flexibility is key to investigating new waveforms, frequency bands and bandwidths.

The software provides connectivity to Keysight signal generators and arbitrary waveform generators (AWGs) to provide accurate testing of hardware designs.

“This enhancement to Signal Studio is another powerful addition to our industry-leading range of design and test tools that support the development of communication systems for 5G wireless and satellite applications,” said Satish Dhanasekaran, marketing manager of Keysight’s Microwave and Communications Division.

The new capabilities are useful in aerospace/defense applications such as military communications and satellites which often utilize custom or proprietary waveforms not directly supported by commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) test equipment.

Signal Studio is also companion to the 89600 VSA software with Option BHK, custom I/Q modulation analysis and Option BHF, custom OFDM modulation analysis.

The company statement says price of the N7608B Signal Studio for custom modulation starts at $2,000 and it will be available in April.
