The MultiService Forum (MSF) announced that Kyu-Ouk Lee, principal member / project manager, Engineering at Korea’s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and David
Francisco, standards manager at Nokia Siemens Networks have been re-elected to the Board of Directors.
In addition, Sai Mahalingam, technical marketing engineer at Cisco Systems and William Vink, solution engineer at JDSU joined the MSF’s Technical Committee Leadership Team.
The MSF has seen significant growth this year, welcoming five new member companies to
the forum: Alepo, Bridgewater Systems, JDSU, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and WiChorus, a Tellabs Company.

It’s clear that the impressive growth in the MSF this year is driven by the value the industry sees in our focus on Voice over LTE (VoLTE), IP Network-to-Network Interconnection (IP-NNI) testing as well as Performance and IPTV Interoperability Testing.”
Meanwhile, the September 2011 VoLTE IOT event, in partnership with GSMA and hosted by
Vodafone and China Mobile, is receiving overwhelming industry support, with seven official sponsoring companies, including GENBAND, Huawei, ZTE, Alepo, Bridgewater Systems, Cisco and WiChorus. A key objective of the testing is to validate the GSMA’s technical recommendations for IMS-based VoLTE.
Test scenarios include VoLTE basic interoperability, roaming and interconnection, non-LTE Access to EPC (e.g. GERAN/UTRAN), handover/relocation and Self Organizing Networks (SON). Since announcing the event 6 weeks ago, the majority of the available testing slots have already been filled. Due to the level of interest, the MSF is offering an additional sign-up period until April 30,
2011.
William Vink said that JDSU brings additional testing expertise to the MSF’s IOT program and the MSF provides JDSU with the opportunity to work with the MSF team on interoperability testing of the latest technologies such as the current VoLTE IOT.”
Cisco has been active in previous MSF IOT events, such as the MSF 2010 LTE IOT, showing
commitment to open interoperability and Cisco is pleased to continue driving the work forward as part of the MSF Leadership Team,” said Sai Mahalingam.
