Jasper Wireless leads M2M Connected Device Platform in ABI Research’s Competitive Assessment

Telecom Lead Asia: Jasper Wireless has been ranked as the leading M2M Connected Device Platform (CDP) vendor in a new Competitive Assessment released by ABI Research.

Its ability to present a global footprint, dominant market share, and vertical-specific expertise were fundamental to it securing top spot. A crucial advantage for Jasper as this race unfolds is its ability to present a global footprint.

CDPs are key tools that help make a positive business case for MNOs in the M2M market. Typical features of a platform include the ability to automatically self-provision remote en masse, enable customers to self-diagnose connectivity problems and ensure MNOs can custom craft billing plans to new business models as they emerge.

ABI Research said with many Tier 1 MNOs having built their own CDP or selected a third-party alternative, the race is heating up to snap up those MNOs without a CDP and this is a race that Jasper appears to be winning at a canter.

Operator alliances will soon become a more integral feature of M2M market development. A key enabler of this is likely to be the use of the Jasper Wireless CDP by MNOs in multiple regions.

“Thanks to a slew of partnerships with leading MNOs such as KPN, Optimus, and Telefónica in Europe; AT&T and Rogers in North America; América Móvil in Latin America; Telstra, CSL, and SingTel in Asia Pacific; VimpelCom in Russia, and Etisalat in the Middle East/Africa, Jasper enables MNOs to support OEMs in rolling out worldwide services for their customers,” said Craig Foster, report author.

Ericsson has a long way to go in order to catch up with Jasper but recent deals with Swisscom, MegaFon, TeliaSonera and more recently, Three Wholesale, show that the company is making traction, in Europe at least.

This Competitive Assessment provides a rating of the leading third-party M2M CDP vendors. A total of 8 companies were scrutinized against several criteria under the categories of implementation and innovation in addition to a market share analysis for the same 8 companies.
