Huawei P1 TD-SCDMA ships with Spreadtrum TD-SCDMA Baseband

Telecom Lead Asia: Spreadtrum Communications, a fabless
semiconductor provider in China, said that Huawei Ascend P1 TD-SCDMA, a
TD-SCDMA smartphone, is equipped with Spreadtrum’s baseband modem, the SC8803G.

Leo Li, Spreadtrum’s president and CEO said that the
launch of Huawei’s high end smartphone with Spreadtrum’s SC8803G TD-SCDMA
baseband modem demonstrates Spreadrum’s ability to enable the handset brands to
bring the performance of their top devices to the China Mobile network.

Spreadtrum’s SC8803G is designed with 40nm CMOS silicon
technology. The SC8803G is a highly integrated baseband modem delivering
superior 3G standby and talk times.

The company claims that the SC8803G enables TD-SCDMA,
EDGE, GPRS and GSM operation and supports TD-HSDPA at 2.8Mbps and TD-HSUPA at
2.2Mbps.

Additionally, the SC8803G is able to achieve a small
modem footprint and can be coupled with third party application processors to
drive high end smartphone performance.

Wang Weijun, Huawei Device’s president of Chinese
division, said that the launch of the Ascend P1 on China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA
network now makes this device broadly available to China consumers.

The Huawei Ascend P1 TD-SCDMA is developed for China
Mobile’s network.  The smartphone runs on Android 4.0 ICS OS and
incorporates a dual core 1.5GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD
display, 4GB of built-in storage and an 8 megapixel BSI camera with AF.

Spreadtrum unveils 1GHz TD-SCDMA and EDGE Android 2.3/4.0
platforms

A few months back, Spreadtrum Communications launched its
new platforms called the SC8810 and the SC6820.

The SC8810 is 1GHz TD-SCDMA Android platform, while the
SC6820 is 1GHz TD-SCDMA Android platform. Both the platforms support Android
2.3 and Android 4.0 designs.
