GENBAND sets up office in Africa

GENBAND, a provider of IP infrastructure and application
solutions, announced the establishment of a regional sales headquarters for the
sub-Saharan African region in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the appointment
of Srini Moodley to vice president of Sales, Africa.

Moodley leads the Johannesburg operations with
responsibility for sales across all sub-Saharan African countries, reporting directly
to Pat Dolan, GENBAND’s senior vice president of sales over Europe, Middle East
and Africa (EMEA).

Srini’s broad experience leading business development in
diverse and challenging markets will prove valuable as we continue to expand
our business in these fast growth African markets,” said Pablo Gargiulo, president
of Global Sales at GENBAND.

His appointment reaffirms GENBAND’s commitment to this
strategic region, facilitating IP communications solutions that enable
reliable, advanced multimedia services for end users across sub-Saharan Africa.

The selection of Johannesburg for GENBAND’s regional
sales headquarters will allow it to best serve Africa’s largest telecom market
and the entire burgeoning region.

GENBAND’s Johannesburg facility will be home to a
sub-Saharan sales team and demonstration centre, which will showcase the range
of IP communications solutions suited for the African markets, including
transformation, convergence and optimisation technologies enabled by GENBAND’s
comprehensive portfolio of switching, networking and application products and
services.

We have a significant opportunity to support the African
telecom industry’s transition to IP communications. I am very pleased to join
the GENBAND team in working with service providers, governments and large
enterprises to transform their networks across the region. We look forward to
establishing a state-of-the-art operation here in Johannesburg,” said Moodley.

Recently, GENBAND
announced the appointment of B.G. Kumar as president of Networking and
Applications.

Kumar will lead GENBAND’s Applications and Networking
R&D team worldwide, which encompasses the company’s Session Border
Controller (SBC), Security Gateway and Application server and software
businesses.
