CommScope v/s Comba Telecom: CommScope says US patents are valid

Telecom Lead America: In response to litigation from
Comba Telecom, CommScope said it firmly believes that its US patents are valid
and will be upheld.

CommScope said it will respond appropriately to this
lawsuit through the legal process. CommScope, along with its Andrew subsidiary,
holds various patents on remote electrical tilt (RET) technology.

The company has been sued in the US District Court for
the District of Delaware by Comba Telecom, which seeks a declaratory judgment
that eight of Andrew’s patents are invalid.

Based in Hong Kong and China, Comba Telecom filed a lawsuit against CommScope and its subsidiary Andrew to invalidate
eight of Andrew’s patents covering remote electrical (RET) antennas.

CommScope, through its Andrew subsidiary,
previously has licensed this antenna technology to other major antenna
manufacturers.

The company has patents on RET technology in the
countries of Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Germany, France, Great
Britain and Sweden, United States and Brazil.

The company said that Andrew possesses other RET patents
that are not part of this litigation. RET antenna technology allows cellular
operators to remotely control the direction of cellular base station antennas
to optimize the wireless coverage they provide.

CommScope further added that it invests
in intellectual property that helps the telecommunications industry
operate more efficiently and with higher quality of service.
