By Telecom Lead Team: China Mobile uses the Rohde &
Schwarz (R&S) CMW500 in its Research Institute labs to perform RF tests on
user equipment for TD-LTE.
China Mobile plays a leading role in TD-LTE. This Chinese
4G mobile radio standard succeeds TD-SCDMA, the Chinese 3G standard.
“The Chinese market is very important for Rohde
& Schwarz. We are proud to drive TD-LTE together with China Mobile, and
expect the cooperation to be highly beneficial for both parties,” said
Christian Leicher, president and COO of Rohde & Schwarz, a leading test and
measurement company.
The R&S CMW500 from Rohde & Schwarz, a
manufacturer of LTE test and measurement equipment, is a reliable, fast and
highly flexible wideband radiocommunications tester that supports all common
wireless communications standards in a single box.
A company press release said it is the ideal solution for
all phases in the development and production of chipsets and mobile wireless
devices as well as for lab tests by network operators.
The China Mobile Research Institute performs measurements
both in the lab and under real-world conditions. Since the beginning of 2011,
it has already implemented TD-LTE test networks in six major cities: Shanghai,
Hangzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Xiamen. Commercial operation is
scheduled to start in 2012.
Recently, Rohde & Schwarz announced
the world’s first test case validated by the Global Certification Forum, TTCN-3
test case, for verifying smooth transition from an LTE network to an existing
CDMA2000 1xRTT network.
Manufacturers use handover tests to evaluate device performance when switching
between LTE and other network infrastructures. The Global Certification Forum
specifies defined test cases for this scenario.
TTCN-3 test case is now available for the R&S
CMW500 wideband radio communication tester. The test cases are also now
available for the R&S CMW500.
