BridgeWave provides Internet backhaul to Spiral Communications

BridgeWave Communications, a supplier of 4G millimeter
wave backhaul solutions, announced Spiral Communications, an ISP operating in
Southwest Iowa, has deployed BridgeWave’s FlexPort µWave to support IP traffic
across Iowa and Nebraska.

The full rate gigabit microwave link provides reliable
connectivity to Spiral’s customer base at a significant cost savings over
traditional fiber.

Using microwave technology, the FlexPort µWave link
provides an extension of Spiral Communication’s fiber backbone with minimal
latency. Spiral Communications is expecting to reach full ROI within 18 months
of deployment.

“With the FlexPort µWave link up and running, we
were able to seamlessly transport bandwidth to the same location at less than
one-tenth of the price we were quoted for symmetrical fiber service
locally,” said Justin Hornberger, vice president of operations at Spiral
Communications.

FlexPort µWave is the first microwave radio, operating in
the 18 to 38 GHz spectrum, capable of transmitting full-rate gigabit Ethernet
in a single, compact, all-outdoor unit. Utilizing BridgeWave’s Ethernet
switching, digital modem and signal processing technologies, FlexPort µWave is
designed to offer true future-proof access and aggregation capacity without
ever having to add on a second radio or climb a tower to achieve full-rate
gigabit transmission.

“The FlexPort µWave is the only solution enabling
full rate gigabit connectivity in the 18 to 38 GHz frequency bands using a
single, all-outdoor unit,” said Amir Makleff, CEO at BridgeWave Communications.
