Asia Pacific telecom customers contribute 28% income to JDSU

Telecom Lead Asia: Test and measurement major JDSU’s
Asia-Pacific customers represented 28 percent of its income for the third
fiscal quarter of 2012.


Americas’ customers represented 47 percent of total net
revenue for the quarter. EMEA customers represented 25 percent of total net
revenue.


JDSU has posted net revenue of $409.2 million in third
fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2012, down 10.1 percent compared to the third
quarter of fiscal 2011.


JDSU said operating margin was 7.3 percent compared to
9.6 percent in the prior quarter and 12.1 percent in the third quarter of
fiscal 2011.


JDSU’s communications test and measurement revenue
decreased 6.0 percent to $177.8 million compared to the third quarter of fiscal
2011. Revenue from this segment represented 43.5 percent of total net revenue.


Communications and commercial optical products revenue of
$173.1 million decreased 17.3 percent compared to the third quarter of fiscal
2011. Revenue from this segment represented 42.3 percent of total net revenue.


JDSU’s optical communications revenue of $143.2 million
decreased 22.5 percent compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2011.


Commercial lasers revenue of $29.9 million increased 21.1
percent compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2011.


Advanced optical technologies revenue of $58.3 million increased
2.6 percent compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2011. Revenue from this
segment represented 14.2 percent of total net revenue.


JDSU held $749.8 million in total cash and investments
and generated $13.2 million of cash from operations for the quarter ended March
31, 2012.


“Our focus on operational execution led to operating
margins at the high end of our guidance. We believe end-market drivers remain
strong as our book to bill ratio exceeded 1 for the second consecutive quarter.
Our differentiated products and solutions are well aligned with our customers’
needs,” said Tom Waechter, president and chief executive officer of JDSU.


For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012, ending June 30,
2012, JDSU expects non-GAAP net revenue to be in the range of $415 to $435
million.
