Airtel launches digital entertainment platform Xstream

Airtel announced the launch of Airtel Xstream that offers popular digital entertainment content across TV, PC and smartphone.

It enables customers to access content across the screen – TV, PC, and smartphone. Airtel Xstream devices will be the IoT gateway for enabling solutions for connected homes.

The launch of an integrated digital entertainment business will enable the largest telecom operator in India to take on Reliance Jio.

Airtel Thanks customers will receive exclusive benefits on Airtel Xstream, including free access to premium content from Airtel’s content catalogue plus offers on other services, said Adarsh Nair, chief product officer of Bharti Airtel.

Airtel has rolled out several Airtel Xstream connected devices to customers. Airtel Xstream devices offer fast performance and better viewing experience.

Airtel Xstream Stick, an Android 8.0 based OTT stick designed for plug and play experience on any TV screen, comes with a single subscription plan that provides access to all digital entertainment. The Airtel Xstream Stick with built-in Chromecast is powered by 1.6 Ghz processor.

The Airtel Xstream Stick will also provide access to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and other Google Playstore applications to users.

The Airtel Xstream Stick is priced at Rs 3999. Airtel Thanks Platinum and Gold customers get free access to the content subscription plan on Airtel Xstream Stick. All other customers get free access to the content for the first 30 days and will need to subscribe to Rs 999 annual plan after the free offer.

Airtel Xstream 4K Hybrid Box, powered by Android 9.0, brings satellite TV and OTT content together onto the TV screen.

The Airtel Xstream Box has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and built-in Chromecast. It comes with a universal remote that features Google Assistant based voice search and hot keys for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.

The price of Airtel Xstream Box is Rs 3999. It comes with a complimentary one year subscription worth Rs 999 to all Airtel Xstream app content in addition to one month subscription to a HD DTH pack.

All existing Airtel Digital TV customers can upgrade to Airtel Xstream Box at a price of Rs 2249.

Airtel Xstream app, a revamped version of Airtel TV app, has a new User Interface and much sharper content discovery and recommendation engine. Airtel Xstream app has 400 live TV channels and movies and shows from top content providers.

Reliance Jio will start the commercial roll-out of Jio Fiber broadband service in India from 5 Sept. Reliance Jio will offer different broadband plans priced between Rs 700 and Rs 10,000. The base plan will offer 100Mbps of data speeds.

Reliance Jio is also offering a set-top-box enabling users to access live TV channels as well as OTT apps. Jio will offer free 4K set-top-box and HD or 4K LED TV to customers with select annual Jio Fiber data plans.

Reliance Jio will also launch First Day First Show service enabling Jio Fiber broadband users to watch new movies on the same day of their release – from the mid-2020.
