Tunisie Telecom signs Alcatel-Lucent for high-speed broadband network

Tunisie Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) portfolio to upgrade existing voice line to provide high-speed broadband using ADSL, VDSL and GPON technology.

As part of a three-year agreement to extend ultra-broadband services throughout Tunisia, Alcatel-Lucent will supply its 7302, 7330 and 7353 Intelligent Services Access Manager solutions, 5526 Access Management System, and customised street cabinets to provide both voice and ultra-broadband services to thousands of customers

This project forms part of Tunisie Telecom’s strategic plans to evolve its voice and data networks into a single IP infrastructure in order to provide customers with high quality voice calls, faster Internet access, and new services.

Nizar Bouguila, chief technology officer of Tunisie Telecom, said: “We were looking for a technology solution that would allow us to reinforce our position as the leader in providing high-speed, high-quality voice and broadband services in Tunisia.”

Alcatel-Lucent solution will enable Tunisie Telecom, a telecom service provider in Tunisia, to transform the carrier’s voice and data network, paving the way for ultra-broadband access services for residential and enterprise customers throughout Tunisia.

The agreement follows the successful trial of VDSL2 Vectoring technology in December 2012, using Alcatel-Lucent’s Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) 7302 platform running on Tunisie’s existing copper cable infrastructure. VDSL2 vectoring technology enables a smooth migration path towards 100 Mbps ultra-broadband that can support a wide range applications like video-on-demand and online gaming for consumers and secure point-to-point Ethernet services for enterprise.
