TeliaSonera removes Tero Kivisaari as president of Business Area Mobility Services

Telecom service provider TeliaSonera has removed Tero Kivisaari as president of Business Area Mobility Services.

This was due to Tero Kivisaari’s role in TeliaSonera’s criticized investments in Uzbekistan, and the attention surrounding them.

Sverker Hannervall will be the acting president of Business Area Mobility Services at TeliaSonera. He will remain in his current position as member of Group Management and Head of Business Services, TeliaSonera said on Thursday.

Tero Kivisaari will take on other duties in the Group.

“Tero Kivisaari’s role in TeliaSonera’s criticized investments in Uzbekistan, and the attention surrounding them, has made it impossible for him to act with the internal and external authority necessary for the president of the largest business area of TeliaSonera. We have therefore agreed that he will leave his position,” said Johan Dennelind, president and CEO of TeliaSonera.

TeliaSonera made some investments in Uzbekistan which were carried out in a way not compliant with the business practices followed by TeliaSonera.
