Procera Networks to launch PacketLogic Content Intelligence solution in Q2 2013

Telecom Lead America: Procera Networks has launched PacketLogic Content Intelligence solution, an enhancement to its Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology.

After the current trials, Procera Networks will launch PacketLogic Content Intelligence solutions for commercial purposes in Q2 2013.

The ContentLogic solution is designed to correlate the categories of content consumed by broadband subscribers for up to 100 million URLs with minimal performance impact to any of the PacketLogic Real-Time Enforcement systems.

Procera Networks claims that a single PL20000 system can replace several racks of competing content categorization or filtering solutions, in addition to performing Intelligent Policy Enforcement.

Jim Brear, president and CEO for Procera Networks, said: “In adding content categorization intelligence to location, subscriber and application intelligence, operators now have even greater control in delivering the highest quality of experience to consumers. This adds the dimension of content to our understanding of user context which is truly differentiating.”

The rise in bandwidth consumption can be directly tied back to content, and in particular the increased demand for high-bandwidth online content like streaming videos and gaming.

Daryl Schoolar, principal analyst at Ovum, said: “Today, many networks can hit over a million sessions per second with hundreds of millions of active sessions at any given time. To support these network demands, operators need not only a very scalable network solution, but one that is also very content and end-user aware to help them plan and optimize their networks to deliver a better customer experience.”

Alexander Havang, CTO for Procera Networks, said: “Network operators can now gain deeper insights into the trends that are driving traffic volume on their infrastructure with real-time visibility for both applications and content categories. ContentLogic can be used to protect users, provide analytics and deliver value added service offerings — without sacrificing performance or scalability.”
