Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Group and Vice-President (Co-Chair) of the Board of Directors of Eutelsat Group, expressed satisfaction with the Indian space regulator’s endorsement, stating, “This will be a critical step forward to meet India’s ambition of providing internet connectivity for all. Eutelsat OneWeb is ready to deploy as soon as it receives the final spectrum authorization to launch commercial services.”

Cyril Dujardin, Co-General Manager of Connectivity at Eutelsat Group, highlighted the significance of collaboration between businesses, governments, and regulators in bridging the global connectivity gap. He emphasized the approval received from the space regulator as a substantial leap toward delivering high-speed connectivity, even to the most remote areas. With the completion of their LEO (Low Earth Orbit) constellation last year, Eutelsat OneWeb stands prepared to deliver crucial connectivity services to businesses across India.

OneWeb India has already secured the requisite licenses from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to offer broadband services using satellite connectivity. The business has received preliminary approval to establish and operate two gateways in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. These gateways are poised to ensure the provision of essential internet connectivity to customers across India upon the rollout of services.
