Huawei, Polkomtel conduct VoLTE technology test in Poland

Huawei on Friday announced that Polkomtel has carried out a Friendly User Test (FUT) of VoLTE technology for the first time in Poland on a commercial network.

Completed using Huawei Smartphone Ascend P7, the goals of the FUT were realized as users were provided with voice and SMS services in VoLTE technology via an LTE network. The calls were made in High Definition (HD) voice quality.

“Two weeks ago, we carried out video broadcast via mobile networks in LTE Broadcast (eMBMS) technology. Now we are finalizing the successful trial of VoLTE. We hope that thanks to our work Plus will increase its competitive advantage over its direct competitors,” said Jacek Felczykowski, CTO of Polkomtel.

During the FUT, eSRVCC (extended Single Radio Voice Call Continuity) functionality was introduced ensuring call continuity when moving from 4G to 2G or 3G coverage.
