GSMA elects Telenor Group CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas as chairman

Telecom industry body GSMA has elected Telenor Group CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas as GSMA chairman till December 2014.

The Telenor Group CEO, who has been the CEO of the Norwegian telecom giant since 2002, will oversee the strategic direction of the trade association during this period. GSMA represents nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, as well as 250 companies in the mobile ecosystem.

Baksaas had served as deputy chairman of GSMA since January 2011.
