DISH Network Reports Drop in Revenue, ARPU and Subscribers in Second Quarter

DISH Network Corporation announced its financial results for the second quarter ending June 30, 2023. The company reported total revenue of $3.91 billion, a decrease from the $4.21 billion reported during the same period in 2022.

Pay-TV Subscribers Decline

In the pay-TV segment, DISH Network faced a net decrease of approximately 294,000 subscribers in the second quarter, marking a larger decline compared to the approximately 257,000 decrease reported in the year-ago quarter.

The company concluded the quarter with a total of 8.90 million pay-TV subscribers, comprising 6.90 million DISH TV subscribers and 2.00 million SLING TV subscribers.

Pay-TV ARPU reached $104.07 in Q2 2023 vs $102.71 in Q1 2023.

Wireless Segment Performance

DISH Network’s retail wireless net subscribers experienced a net decrease of about 188,000 in the second quarter, compared to a net decrease of 210,000 in the same quarter of the previous year.

At the end of the second quarter, the company recorded 7.73 million retail wireless subscribers as against 7.91 million in Q1 2023.

Wireless ARPU reached $36.37 in Q2 2023 vs $36.43 in Q1 2023.

DISH Network said wireless churn rate has increased significantly to 4.54 percent in Q2 2023 vs 4.24 percent in Q1 2023. Wireless churn rate indicates the response of mobile phone customers on its network.
