DISH Network Names Hamid Akhavan as CEO Amidst Pending Merger with EchoStar

DISH Network has announced the appointment of Hamid Akhavan as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DISH, in addition to his current role as the CEO and President of EchoStar. In his expanded capacity, Hamid Akhavan will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the company’s video services and wireless businesses, as well as its subsidiaries.

Hamid Akhavan brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having held various executive leadership positions throughout his distinguished career. Prior to joining DISH and EchoStar, Hamid Akhavan served as the CEO of Unify (formerly Siemens Enterprise Communications). Additionally, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Deutsche Telekom and served as the CEO of T-Mobile International, where he also contributed as a member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom.
