Cloudberry Mobile will launch the world’s first carrier-neutral Small Cell network in Norway in nationwide 2.6 Ghz spectrum to solve poor signals for calls and slow data speeds.
Existing devices will roam onto the Cloudberry Mobile network when it provides the strongest signal.
The Norway model can be replicated in markets globally, said the Small Cell network operator in a statement.
“While phones get smarter, the old problems of coverage blackspots and throttled data are in many cases getting worse,” said Tom Guldberg, CEO of Cloudberry Mobile.
By using Small Cells rather than traditional base stations, Cloudberry Mobile can deliver optimal cellular coverage and faster data speeds.
Small Cells, which are 3G/4G networks in a box the size of a Wi-Fi router, can be installed in minutes and can form networks that manage themselves.
Cloudberry is working with traditional carriers, MVNOs and new players delivering its network-as-a-service model.
