Jio hikes prices by 39% for mobile call plans

Reliance Jio Infocomm on Wednesday announced up to 39 percent increase in its mobile call and data plans that provide 300 percent more benefits.

The tariff plans will be effective from December 6. Reliance Jio revised its charges following the footsteps of Airtel and Vodafone Idea.

Reliance Jio, under the New All-In-One Plans, has rolled out four schemes with tariffs of Rs 199 per month to Rs 2,199 for 12 months. These include free on-net calls and free minutes for off-net calls.

Jio will offer 84-day validity plan with 1.5 GB of data per day for Rs 555 as compared with Rs 399 with the same features.

Jio has also raised the voice and data price of its Rs 153 plan to Rs 199, Rs 198 plan to Rs 249, Rs 299 to Rs 349, Rs 349 to Rs 399, Rs 448 to Rs 599 and Rs 1,699 to Rs 2,199.

Reliance Jio’s data plans are cheaper by 25 percent compared with the existing plans in the industry.

The Rs 199 plan, a 28-day validity plan that offers 1.5GB data per day, is about 25 percent cheaper than the plans of rivals offering similar benefits at a price of around Rs 249.

Airtel and Vodafone Idea have raised mobile services rates by up to 50 percent effective December 3.
