Metro by T-Mobile to offer 5G pre-paid wireless service in 2019

Metro by T-Mobile will be launching its 5G pre-paid wireless service in 2019, T-Mobile, the third largest telecom operator in the US, announced today.
Metro by T-Mobile for 5G pre-paidThe launch of Metro by T-Mobile by re-naming MetroPCS is part of the strategy of T-Mobile to win approval for its $26 billion deal to buy smaller rival Sprint from SoftBank of Japan.

T-Mobile fears that smaller telecom operators may oppose the merger between T-Mobile and Sprint due to the fear that the combined entity will not be offering the best value to telecom operator customers called MVNOs.

“Metro by T-Mobile today became the first prepaid wireless service provider to commit to 5G service, coming in 2019 as T-Mobile begins launching 5G services and 5G-capable smartphones hit the market,” said Neville Ray, chief technology officer at T-Mobile.

Starting today, at 10,000+ Metro by T-Mobile stores, wireless customers can score new all-unlimited rate plans featuring Amazon Prime and Google One all on the ultra-advanced T-Mobile network.

Metro customers can benefit from the new rate plans. They can come into a Metro store or contact Metro by T-Mobile’s customer care team to make the switch.

“With a commitment to bring 5G to life in 2019, we’re making it crystal clear: Metro by T-Mobile customers aren’t making a compromise,” Tom Keys, president, Metro by T-Mobile, said.
