Subisu to deploy FTTH network in Nepal with Nokia GPON

Subisu, an Internet service provider (ISP) in Nepal, will deploy Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) network across Province 2 of Nepal.

China-based Huawei and ZTE are also actively pursuing similar FTTH deals with global Internet service providers.
Nokia 7368 ONT for FTTHNokia said its Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (GPON) solutions will help Subisu to expand its network and reach new broadband customers.

Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA) selected Subisu to build FTTH network for 8 districts in Province 2 of Nepal.

The new network using Nokia’s GPON fiber solution will enable Subisu to deliver digital television, IPTV and Internet services offering speed of up to 1 Gbps, Vinish Bawa, head of the emerging business customer team for Nokia India, said.
Nepal broadband subscribers March 2018Binaya Mohan Saud, CEO at Subisu, said: “The latest technology, deployed by Nokia, will help us bring down the cost of network deployment and management, improve efficiency of the network and lower the cost of operations.”

Nepal has 13378000 broadband subscribers as on March 2018.

NDCL (Nepal Doorsanchar Company) has 5584766 broadband subscribers.

UTL (United Telecom) has 63203 broadband subscribers.

Ncell has 5840332 broadband subscribers.

STPL (Smart Telecom) has 14530 broadband subscribers.

ISPs have 1875169 broadband subscribers in Nepal.

The number of 3G Internet subscribers is 8827692, EVDO customer base is 199776, while 4G subscriber base is 1419329 in Nepal, according to Nepal Telecom Regulatory Authority.
