Telairity inks encoding technology deal with Sri Lanka Telecom

Telairity, a provider of H.264 / MPEG4 encoding technology equipment for the broadcast industry, announced its deal with Sri Lanka Telecom.

Sri Lanka Telecom will be deploying the Telairity encoders and IRDs as the compression / decompression engines for an advanced IPTV video network being installed at multiple locations across Sri Lanka.

The new live IPTV broadcasting system, implemented by Sri Lanka Telecom, which has more than 6 million customers, on behalf of one of their major clients, links together locations in Colombo, Union Place, Mount Olephant, and Depanama.

Mitter International, based in Colombo, is a provider of telecom equipment and after sales support for Sri Lanka, is the system integrator.

The U.S.-based Telairity is already working with China Telecom and Thailand’s CAT Telecom to supply encoders and IRDs.

Steve Wang, general manager for Asia Pacific at Telairity, said: “The widespread acceptance to our encoders and IRDs is a tribute to the quality of our solutions and to the relationships we have formed with partners like Mitter International and customers like Sri Lanka Telecom.”
